Trisha & Jeremy were SUCH a joy to work with! I liked them straight away from our first meeting, when they told me one of the funniest engagement stories I’ve ever heard, and I’ve heard a lot! I’m not going to retell it all here, but suffice it to say it involved oysters, volcanoes, and toilet paper – and I’m not kidding!! But it’s how heartfully in love they are that really got to me. They are so beautifully connected, it was a privilege to be with them on this day. I was so happy to be shooting such a gorgeous couple, in such a stunning location on such a glorious spring day… I know that’s a lot of positive adjectives, but this wedding deserved them! I love Old St. Hillary’s Church – you’d never guess we were still in Marin. The bride was fashionably late to the Water’s Edge Hotel (don’t worry Trisha, you’re not the only it’s happened to! ), so I had a little extra time with her carefully-chosen flowers and accessories both at the hotel and at Servino’s Restaurant on the water just a few doors down… Trisha is an artist who works at a gallery, and was clear from the beginning that she wanted classic Dutch still lives as the theme for the flower colors – so super rich!

Wow, were these photos hard to pick! For every photo that ended up here on the blog, I swear there were at least 10 others I wanted to post – it was just that good of a wedding.
I had the great pleasure of seeing Annie Siu’s gorgeous flower creations again – she has such an incredible asthetic taste and ability to match her designs to each couple’s unique style… I highly recommend checking her out! The two pieces in the cathedral and everything at reception that shows up later on is hers as well…
When all the girls were ready, we went out on the streets of downtown, where they truly lived up their Vogue time! Meantime, my second shooter Sapasorn had taken the groomsmen (and one groomswoman
) on the streets too, just a couple of blocks away…
Then onto the church for the full Catholic mass, with the impressive backdrop that St. Peter & Paul’s Cathedral offers – As always, the flower girls just kill me!

After shooting a series of wonderful urban weddings this summer, it was delightful to shoot Kristan & Jason’s wedding, which turned out to be the quintessential backyard wedding! After getting ready at the Wine Country Inn in St. Helena, CA, these guys were fortunate enough to have access to Jason’s father’s home in Calistoga, which, as everyone kept telling him that day, is a gem of a wedding location waiting to be discovered, and a treat for a photographer to work at. He has carefully kept up the place, keeping a lot of the home’s original antiques usable at modern standards, and even the hallway bathroom sink was charmingly restored! The property is blessed with some beautiful woodsy trails where we staged their first reveal, a sweet front yard with lush grass perfect for a cocktail hour, a backyard with plenty of room for an outdoor reception, a dance floor with lights, and a stage for the band to set up. Not to mention an idillic field for the outdoor ceremony, framed by a huge oak tree (see photo of their kiss) and a view of gorgeous vineyards right behind, part of which Mr. Schingler leases to Beringer wines. And as if the setting, the time of year, the weather and the light that day weren’t perfect enough, Kristan and Jason just couldn’t be a cuter couple!

I’m so happy to get some of Bernadette & Allan’s wedding photos up! I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself shooting at Cornerstone Gardens for the first time – what an amazing location for a wedding! I could have easily spent hours photographing in there… It’s like being in a vibrant art museum, only outdoors and with all the art consisting of beautifully landscaped gardens. Some abstract, some political, most highly surreal… Definitely a visual feast! I think one of my favorite moments of the day was during my portrait time with Bernadette & Allan, when we popped into one “garden” (no plants in sight!
) that I hadn’t noticed earlier, with a bunch of shiny silver tinsel pieces, each one with a person’s written prayer or wish on it, hanging from a metal sculpture. I had this wonderful couple stand in the middle of all the tinsel flying around in the wind that had picked up at this point, and with no planning whatsoever, the piece of tinsel that flies into focus right in front of my lens says “I wish to find a loving man”. Well, Bernadette sure did with Allan!
